Polycystic Overlords of Groom

Sunday, Jan. 04, 2009 - 21:16

A lazy day. I did a little laundry/housework, I watched some TV (Gillingham 1-2 Villa in the FA Cup, plus 'TV Burp' later on), I played some chess, and I fucked about online somewhat. I watched Ep. 1 of Series 2 of 'The Book Group' which was OK (whoooo! bumming!) though spoilt by the dinner I was eating with it being disfuckingusting.

Interesting bit in New Scientist this week, which talked about how happiness (and other things) can be dependant on 'degrees of separation' from other people. It was talking about the fact that it's not so much the number fof friends that you have, it's also about whether those close friends you have are actually happy (and whether the people close to these friends are also positive sortsa people).

Interesting stuff to theorise about why it is that happy people 'group together' so to speak - whether it is that one happy person seeks out another for company, or more likely that one person being happy 'spreads' such good feeling around those close to him/her, which sorta multiplies and filters outwards.

Also interesting, though not so much in the positiveness level, is that I've had a bit of gut rot today. Not sure where it's from (possibly the burger I had for lunch yesterday, though that seemed quite well cooked.. maybe it is just as a result of eating rich fruit cake?) but it did lead to me 'following through' at one point this afternoon.. not exactly pleasant :-)

Got an e-mail this evening from JR's sister saying she wasn't really in the mood for chatting, 'cause she'd split up with her boyfriend and it was horrid, so she was feeling somewhat un-good. Apparently JR has been being shifty and a bit insensitive today too. I replied in reassuring "sorry to hear that, but I think you made the right choice, I'm here if/when you want to talk" fashion. We'll see :-(

LISTENING TO:- my iTunes playlists are fucked, which on one hand is a bugger ('cause all the play counts have been reset, hence I can't get horny over skip count statistics) but on the other hand sorta serves as an interesting point to monitor my 'played from 2009 onwards' sorta things.

I'm not really in the mood. I'm a bit emotionally and physically tired, and I think next week at work might be a bit stinking w.r.t. return to the normal levels of stressedness and being surrounded by incompetance. So I'm gonna post this and go iron some shirts or something. Tata! x
