previous - "The Beautiful People" - next Bitty day at work - though I got plenty done,
including 'setting up' various things to complete through the course of
the week. So that's OK.
Conversation topics at work were pretty random.
They included fruit flies with Alzheimers, the weather, 'Atonement',
driving, chicken mulligatawny, pony-trekking, blah blah blah. And so
much more besides.
I did find out about the bacterium Wigglesworthia
glossinidia brevipalpis, which I think is pretty fucking cool.
Symbioticness, reduced DNA posing questions about what is the minimum
necessary for life, possible target for bacteriophage therapy reducing
the incidence of sleeping sickness.. oh and a funny name :-)
Ooh, I suppose the big sports news was a couple
of shock sackings in the Premier League. Firstly, late last night Tony
Adams was shown the door (which was a bit harsh, but Pompey have been
in inconsistant form), and this evening Luis Filipe Scolari was sacked
after Chelsea's latest stumblings in fourth place.
The anticipated snowstorms didn't occur.
Additionally, the heating seems to be back on, though I think there's a
leak in the bathroom - big wet carpet near the radiator pipes. I may
have spoke too soon about the snow actually - it could tip it down
later (actually it could be snowing at this moment, I can't see out of
a window right at the moment).
I'm glad that Plant/Krauss 'Raising Sand' got so
many Grammys - it's a damned good album. I've not been in the mood for
the whole album recently, but every time a song off it come up on
shuffle I do appreciate it somewhat.
LISTENING TO:- The Cardigans 'Long Gone Before
Daylight', which is an excellent album - one of my best ever cheap
punts at a CD found in a random shop. Think it was three quid (or three
for a tenner), it's certainly an underappreciated work of art.
Right, time for another full-body glissando,
methinks!
