previous - "The Beautiful People" - next Because it is late, and also since I'm not sure I
have a massive fuckload to say..
1. Work's been generally a little stressy, but
not awful. There's just been too much to do, and too many times when I
have been frustrated by the lack of competance of some of my employees.
The Quality System seems to reward 'turning a blind eye' (or just plain
lying) as well, which must be against it's intentions. When everything
you DO notice and comment on needs analysing and reporting on in
triplicate, the only way to get through it all is to fudge so hard it
turns into toffee.
2. Had a bit of indigestion this past couple of
days. Monday night held repeated gastric reflux, which was pretty
fucking unpleasant, and yesterday and today have been affected by
discomfort and constipation. Not sure what's up - probably a mixture of
stress and bad diet.
3. I was wondering idly earlier on what I'd be
like if I was a woman. I'm not saying I feel like I'm the wrong gender
or 'owt - I'm just thinking hypothetically. How would the personality
characteristics I have be reflected in a woman of my age? I dunno.. I
think perhaps my lack of regard for what others think of me might make
me even more unpopular as a female, and I am gobby and opinionated too
(which is probably not yet as well accepted for lasses as it is for
lads?). There's an extent perhaps to which I could look at my sister
for some idea of what I might be like. I'm similar to her in many ways.
4. Compiled a break of 118 on snooker on my ol'
xbox this evening, which was pleasing. OK, it's pretty insignificant.
5. I think I can hear an owl. Some kind of
birdie outside making twit-twoo sounds - admittedly it could be a
pigeon of some kind :-)
6. Enjoying that book about virus hunters,
though am slightly impatient to finish it and move onto something
different and fictional. It's an interesting read on the train home,
but it rarely grabs me and refuses to be put down at other parts of the
day.
7. That 'Boys & Girls Alone' prog yesterday was
OK - not as upsetting as the first episode, though it did produce some
challenging bits and pieces. Girls succumbing to peer pressure to smoke
fake cigarettes was an interesting one, as were some of the
events that followed one person from each group taking a 'leader' role
in sorting shopping and budgeting.. and how the rest of each cohort
turned against them.
8. Also seemingly worthy of comment was
something about superskinny vrs supersize, which I had on in the
background (mute) while I chatted to my ma on the phone. It seemed to
be based on a young skinny woman swapping diets with a really fat asian
bloke, with lots of fairly symbolic standing at tables handing plates
to each other. It did involve a lot of the two of them standing around
in their underwear too (partic unflattering beige bra/knicker set
actually, on the lass) which seemed unnecessarily cruel for two people
who obviously had body issues. The rather lupine Dr. Chritian Jesson
looked on in inimitable styleeeee.
9. Weather isn't quite so cold - partly external
factors being less frigid, partly the heating working in my flat once
more. Whichg helps :-)
10. England lost 2-0 to Spain in a friendly this
evening. Wasn't too bad a performance - the Spainards are a good side,
and an under-strength England team generally matched them, except
w.r.t. finishing ratio.
LISTENING TO:- various things in the last few
days. Bit of Sandy Denny, some Cold, White Lies and The Cardigans.
