previous - "The Beautiful People" - next Ah, a busy week a lack of updates doth create. It's
not been an arse of a week on some ways in that I'm not stressed by
internal incompetance, moreso the fact one of our largest clients has
queried a load of results (and in doing so has shown a worrying lack of
technical know-how on the part of every single member of their
technical/quality team) thus requiring plenty plenty extra work on my
part - a twelve hour day on Wednesday, and I had to go in to work for
six or seven hours Saturday as well.
1. In the cricket, England declared on 600/6,
but the West Indies batsmen have made a good fist of it in reply (esp.
Sarwan, who's passed 150 for his third hundred in succession, methinks)
and have reached 400/5 in reply.
2. Met up with my bis sis on Tuesday, which was
nice. She, I and her friend went for a curry (which tasted nice, but
was tardily served) and a drink. Nice to chat and catch up and all that
gubbins.
3. Started the slide w.r.t. eating pretty badly
this week though - curry on Tuesday night, on Wednesday I was very late
leaving work so got a burger and chips from the kebab shop, on Thursday
I had to wait an hour for my train so went and bought some chips, and
yesterday we did 'cake friday' in the office, and also 'McDonalds
breakfast friday' too.
4. My TV's stopped hissing, as it seemed to be
doing every time I turned it on in recent weeks. The site boss at work
told me that something was fucked with the cooling gas associated with
the electromagnet at the back. So that's one way in which my television
set and the Large Hadron Collider are alike.
5. Watched a bit of the rugby this weekend, but
alas it was disappointing on both the entertainment and the personal
preference stakes. Scotland beat Italy but weren't that impressive,
Wales lost in France, and England lost 14-13 to Ireland in a pretty
shite match. Only the men from the Emerald Isle can now win the grand
Slam, but theoretically there are four sides still in the hunt for the
championship (gotta guess that Wales v Ireland will be the decider).
6. Found out in passing this week that:- a) JR
has been took on permanantly, which I suppose is nice for her, and b)
that she is seeing one of the lads who I work with (but not Boy Y,
interestingly) who doesn't like me. I've been pretty quiet with her
recently, got nothing much to say to her and am not making the effort
to find something to talk about.
7. In the football, some surprise in that
Middlesboro' beat Liverpool 2-0 at The Riverside (the same score that
Boro' won against West Ham in the FA Cup replay in midweek). Chelsea
needed a late winner to beat Wigan 2-1, Arsenal again drew 0-0.. this
time against Fulham, and West Brom lost 2-0 against Everton (and look
adrift).
8. So yeah, more important perhaps than
Middlesboro' moving out of the bottom three (though admittedly it is
pretty vital to not be in that group!) - albeit perhaps temporarily
'cause teams around them play tomorrow - is that the two wins in a
week'll probably give them the confidence that'll back up recent
performances and hopefully pull them clear of the relegation places.
9. Confidence is a funny thing. Wolves are
playing awfully at the moment and haven't won in eleven (or something)
but are still top of the Championship.
10. I was wondering what a graph of the number
of factors each number has would look like. I mean, it's gonna be jumpy
(going back down to zero or two.. depending on how you define it) for
prime numbers, but surely the general trend would be that the larger
the number, the more factors. So what would the gradient be? How many
factors does the average number have?
