previous - "The Beautiful People" - next Well, badumpsh, it's been another bleeping busy
week, if I am honest. As detailed in my earlier catch up bitty entry, I
did have some help with my multitude of tasks, but nevertheless there
was somewhat a gesplinke of fiddlesomeness in the ol' work sector,
where joistmonkeyness was concerned.
Hopefully, it's almost at an end. Basically one
of our biggest clients has kicked up a fuss, and it's required a lot of
investigative work on my part (and on the part of various of my
colleagues and bosses) to cover arses and prove everything is kosher
n'the like. I'm just hoping it doesn't fuck up my plans w.r.t. getting
all the other stuff 'normal' for my job done in time - esp. because I
have booked a week off later this month.
Chatting a bit more to JR these days, which is
OK, but it's hardly any kind of comparison with the (pleasant, but
bound to end at some point) way things were six months or so ago. She's
actually quite an attractive woman to look at - esp. recently as she
seems a bit happier since she started seeing some bloke - though I
doubt she's any different w.r.t. the things that made her less
attractive to me w.r.t. age difference and maturity and stuff.
Nevertheless, I can't feel that as much as I am
rational and I realise about the fact there was very little chance of
anything partic concrete or lasting happening, and as much as I
acknowledge that the events that spoiled the friendship weren't really
something I could have helped.. I do feel a little sad about things.
And now you're gone, there's like an
egg-plant in my hair..
Judging by the FA Cup quarter final results
today (Chelsea beat Coventry 2-0 and Man United beat Fulham 4-0), and
bearing in mind the probable winners in the remaining ties, it'll
probably be Man United, Chelsea, and Arsenal in the semi-finals. I'd
like to think that Middlesboro' will join them, but in truth Everton
are prob favourites.
Anyhow, it puts in mind a contrast between the
games on 'quarter final weekend' last year, and the ones this year.
Last year's semi-finals contained West Brom, Portsmouth, Barnsley and
Cardiff.. not exactly 'top six' Premiership teams like it looks likely
to be this year!
I wonder if the UEFA (Europa) Cup place will go
to a losing FA Cup semi-finalist - possibly Hull or Middlesboro' - if
teams already qualified for the Champions League occupy three of the
final four places? Or is it done on league position in those
circumstances?
Both the fact it is FA Cup Quarter Final
weekend, and the fact the televised match was from The Ricoh Arena
(where I spent a corresponding evening this time last year) it set in
mind thoughts also of what I was doing when the same stage of the
competition was played last year. It's been a year since I had any real
'love action' so to speak (admittedly, I've not been trying much) -
have I 'given up'?
England declared on ~550/6, on the second day of
the final test, then put The Windies in for nineteen overs. They posted
90/1 by stumps. The pitch looks flat and lifeless, and it'll be a draw,
most likely, again....
LISTENING TO:- I have REALLY been enjoyin' a CD
I bought for my Ma (but took a copy of) by some band called Black Stone
Cherry. The track 'Rollin On' is a partic favourite this week.
Dull, straight, factual entry, I know. I've been
tired and not had all that much to say. Not much I can remember for
long enough to talk about at a later hour/day anyhow.
