previous - "The Beautiful People" - next I do like the fact that a knock-on from the fact
that today we all in our office had come in to work wearing red tops
(for Red Nose Day) has been that this afternoon we agreed we'd all come
in wearing black on Monday, and we'd wear green on Tuesday. Reason why?
I quote, "to freak people out". Such funny little perversities (the
pact coming as a result of noting the surprised reaction of people
coming into the office and seeing all six of us dressed similarly)
amuse me greatly :-)
Not a bad week at work - the fact that last week
was a stinker, and I finally got time this week to catch up on some of
my 'normal' work meant that I was somewhat less stressed from Wednesday
onwards. I've had a few peeps from the lab having a go at me regarding
the likelihood they'll get their bonus, and various other
dissatisfactions they have (I think I am a natural ear for such stuff
because I am an ex-lab employee so know what's going on, have a small
degree of influence w.r.t. making some changes to procedure if I can
justify recommending them, but I am not the 'big' boss, so am not seen
as a threat or as someone with no time for issues), but in all it's not
been a bad second half of the week.
LISTENING TO:- Someone at work asked me to copy
the new Prodigy CD for them, and as a result, I have a copy resting
temporarily (Father Ted style) in my laptop memory. It's good anyhow, a
lot of nice meaty stuff so far on initial impressions from listenings
this week.
Yesterday afternoon at work, since it was quiet
and a couple of my colleagues weren't in, two of my (very nice,
attractive married mummies) female co-workers started grilling me about
my love life and trying to set me up with another of the women in the
office (who wasn't in). It was mostly in jest and done for amusement,
but it was a bit odd - I struggled to politely say "er.. no.. I just
don't find her attractive!" without coming over as being a bastard. I
perhaps should have just been blunter, but in truth today there was
nowt much said about it, so I figure the whole conversation was mostly
just teasing type stuff.
That said, I almost made a
GIGANTIC fuck-up, in nearly responding to a question I had
misinterpreted. The two married co-worker ladies had been asking me
about this other colleague and whether I'd be set up with her etc. and
they said "No come on, between the two of us, would you?".
Unfortunately I sorta misinterpreted it in my head (not concentrating..
I was trying to work you see!) as being them asking me to choose
between them two married mothers!! Thankfully, I clarified and stalled
several times, asking "What do you mean?" till I worked out that they
were asking me to confide with just them two about whether I liked
t'other co-worker. Phew.. close to making a BIG boo-boo!
This evening I watched a bit of Comic Relief,
but figured it'd take the usual route of being unfunny till the
watershed, then crude and unfunny after the watershed, so I turned it
off and spent a couple of hours looking for second hand CDs to buy
online.
