previous - "The Beautiful People" - next I'll start with a positive, in that this evening I
found Stuart Lee's Comedy Vehicle ('political correctness') to not only
be very funny, but also extremely intelligent and witty. My type of
comedy, in that there was a mix of batshit insane silliness and also a
smattering of stuff that was a bit elitist and petty and highbrow.
Alas work was a massive stressy fuckdoodle. Far
too much to do, far too little had been done in my absence (despite me
staying late before I went on holiday making sure I'd explained what
needed to be done to the people I was asking to help me), far too many
people just not giving a shit about doing their own job properly, and
far too little that I can actually do about any of it. I badgered away
and got a few things crossed off the big list, but.. intimidatingly
busy.
It stopped raining yesterday in the West Indies,
and England whacked off (insert your own term for masturbation in order
to get spurious search engine hits here, just to allow you to imagine
disappointed teenagers chancing upon your site finding it is not a
guide to onanism) the runs needed to win the one-dayer and bring the
scores level at 2-2, with one to play.
LISTENING TO:- Hypnogaja, which is just a random
sorta Massive Attack type ambient stuff CD I picked up cheap a while
back. Doesn't fail to provide a pleasant evening accompaniment.
I got quite annoyed at a TV prog that was on
earlier - had to switch over after quarter of an hour as it was getting
annoying. Seemed to be some woman trying to 'educate' about teenage
attitudes to sex n'that, which didn't have a clear editorial justified
point really. It touched upon various subjects like kids being more
tech-savvy than their parents (durr? really!) hence might access porn..
as if this was something new and extraordinary. There was the
supposedly shocking revelation that most people like nice round firm
breasts, but most breasts aren't like that (shock horror!!) Then there
was stuff about how easy it is for kids to find porn online, as if
abdicating all parental reponsibility to monitor PC access and also
educate their kids about what's acceptable. When the stupid presenter
started spouting how awful it was that PCs aren't sold with adult site
barring software on them as default, and that parents might have to
switch such functions on.. well I lost patience with the stupid moo.
Which was a shame, as there was some good
journalistic content, and some important stuff amidst all the dross
spouted. Seemed a shame how it was presented in such a dumbed down
stylee, and to scandalise. I mean, I'm worried about kids seeing
revolting illegal porn too, but.. it's just the same thing as has
happened since time immemorial in different ways. It all seemed the
worst sort of appeal for a nanny state, as opposed to preaching
parental responsibility and self responsibility of the peeps viewing
porn n'that.
Handful of German girls on the train home today, two of which were quite cute - very blue Aryan eyes.
