previous - "The Beautiful People" - next This is what I wrote on Sunday, before the 'puter crashed.
LISTENING TO:- 'cause it was sunny this morning when I woke up, after the rained-off F1 came to an end, I listened to last night's Bob Harris show online. Was nice - good selection of music in it (and I'm suprised how much hit the spot - somewhat disturbing to have someone else be more successful at picking tunes you want to hear than you seem to be able to yourself at times!) but it did get me thinking about the idea of why I am listening to the radio to hear new stuff, when I've fuckloads of 'new' stuff I've not listened to properly sitting in piles of CDs in my flat?
I watched 'Hostel Pt. 2' the other evening. Well, I say I watched it, but in truth I only saw the first hour or so of it before deciding it was a bit shit. So I turned it off and did something else instead.
Bottom of the league Luton beat (League 1 side) Scunthorpe 3-2 AET in the Johnstones Paint Trophy. Fair play to the beleaguered Hatters.
Elsewhere sportingwise, the F1 was called off after over half but not more than three quarters of the laps had been completed. As a result, Jensen Button won but got half the usual points. Hamilton was seventh or so. It was very wet and you have to wonder why they held a Grand Prix in the rainy season at the monsoon time of the day.
Everton beat Wigan 4-0, putting some pressure on Villa and Arsenal in games coming up - regarding the Champions League and Europa League qualification places n'all that. I was a bit pissed off by the score in the other Premier League game - Villa going 1-0 down at Old Trafford, coming back to lead 2-1 with quarter of an hour left, but losing 3-2 to The Damned United due to a last minute scorcher from a 17yr old substitute.
I'm a little worried about the CDs that I ordered from the USA a few weeks ago. They've not arrived yet (or at least, I've not seen a card in the post saying they are ready for collection at the Post Office dept) and hence I'm wondering whether they've arrived but been nicked by one of the reprobates who share my post box, or the card has been lost, or they've not arrived yet. The shipping date is quoted in an e-mail as 17th March, and they say 1-3 weeks is the time to expect.
Just hope I'm not going to be sixty quid down for absolutely nothing. But it's not just the money, it'd also be the time and effort wasted in having spent ages choosing nice CDs to order. Plus (if they've been nicked) the feeling of cheatedness.
I'm also worried that I had a bit of an argument with one of my colleagues on Friday. She's a nice woman, thoughtful and helpful, but she did take the piss and I reacted back. What I retorted with was snappy but not partic aggressive, though it led to her being pointedly 'civil but not chatty' to me all Friday afternoon. We'll see whether she persists with this (slightly immature) stance come tomorrow morning.
