Who has got his GREEN FLASH on?

Tuesday, Apr. 21, 2009 - 23:07

Random midweek bits and bobs. The bits come from the mouths of shirehorses, and the bobs are those performed by a bhoy in the sea just off the coast of Norfolk.

1. Okay - I want your nominations for most attractive British sportswoman. I'm going to start y'all off with Victoria Pendleton and Kelly Sotherton. Leave me a comment :-)

2. Not an uninteresting game in the league today, which finished Liverpool 4-4 Arsenal. I guess that kinda annoys the fuck out of the scousers, though they were behind four separate times to Arshavin's four goals. Shame that the title looks to be handed to Man United. Eight goals in a Liverpool game for the second time in a week? Heh!!

3. Played a lot on my golf gamne for the xbox. It's essentially samey, but there is a lot of tasks to do in it, hence there's plenty depth in it, as a gamer. Suppose the difficulty gradient has been quite well paced too - not too easy, but not so hard it's put me off.

4. A 'small world' moment on the train today in that the bloke sat opposite me on the way home was reading the same Wolverhampton Library copy of 'Lolita' that I'd read a year ago. I knew because of a fold in the cover that I recall the texture of when I had borrowed the book.

5. I was told at work today that I should stop being so reasonable. Thing is, in the office there are frequently moaning complaining conversations, and sometimes I just can't keep my mouth 'cause there are counterarguments about what peeps are blethering about. I just shouldn't play devil's advocate!

6. Work continues to be OK, despite some stresses of over-hot office temperature, having too much to do to cover up other people's incompetancies, and covering for the laboratory manager (off ill/injured) and the deputy lab manager (who is leaving). I anticipate headless chicken running about in the next few weeks.

7. I like the Bat For Lashes song ('Daniel'), but it does sound somewhat annoyingly like a couple of 80's tunes mashed together. Perhaps late Fleetwood Mac in a Chicane remix, with that riff in the middle of it. I couldn't quite place it for a wee while, but then recalled it's 'Hot Stuff' by Donna Summer.

8. Reading all but secured a play-off place (alongside Cardiff, whoever of Sheff United and Birmingham that doesn't finish second, and one of Burnley Swansea and Preston) in The Championship by virtue of a win at Derby.

9. Finished the John O'Farrell book, which was entertaining enough - if a little lacking in awareness w.r.t. criticism of supporters of one party for behaving a bit antisocially and ropily, then not criticising activists of the other side for doing the same. Good stuff though, forsure.

10. I've chipped a tooth - which freaking annoys me, as it's sharp at present. Plus, I am worried about needing dental work on it if stuff gets stuck in it.
