My caribou has an anchor tattoo

Sunday, Aug. 02, 2009 - 22:50

Step forward all you who correctly identified the dangly bit at the back of the throat as the uvula. Especially big kudos to y'all for avoiding the misapprehension of a blonde colleague of mine, who thought it was another name for the mimsy. Suppose it's an anagram..

Still feeling a bit under the weather. My throat is a bit sore, and I've got a blocked up left ear, it seems. At least I've not been sneezing my hair out today.

I got a big book about history in the week, which I ordered from booksellers that visit work. It's quite good - bit weighty to act as a 'toilet book' but I'm sure I'll get plenty use out of it, if I can work out a good way to consume the fucker. I just think I'd like to know a little more about history, and it was only a tenner.

Not a bad day in the cricket, with England building on their overnight score of 159/4. After Bell was out within ten runs, the middle and late order wagged somewhat - Flintoff got 74 from 79, Prior 41 from 59, Broad 55 from 64 and Swann a rapid 24 from 20 balls. They were all out for 376 (a lead of 113). In reply Australia made 88/2, making it probable that only a draw or an England win will result.

Chatted to my best mate this evening, which was pleasant. Good to have a natter about fairly intelligent things, and blether about this n'that. I held myself back from feeling bad about some of the ways his life has highlighted shortcomings in mine, and all was good. I'm going to make time to go see him and his family in a few weeks forsure.

Do nag me about this. I've been meaning to book time off for ages and make the effort, but.. you know me - I'm useless at getting my finger out my arse where such things are concerned. So don't let me forget!

I wonder how good George Weah's knowledge of the Dewey Decimal System is? He is a librarian, after all.

NOT YET LISTENING TO:- PJ Harvey & John Parish (who I didn't know till today was actress Sarah Parish's brother) 'A Woman A Man Walked By'. I downloaded it today though, and have stuck it on my iPod to listen to in the week. If it's 'owt like 'Louse Point' I'll like it.

Um. I'm not going to waste either your or my time any more. I could extend this entry with a load of varied bits and bobs added in some kind of non-obvious order, but.. in truth it's been an ordinary Sunday. I'm ready for bed.
