Freak till the Early Learning Centre

Tuesday, Aug. 04, 2009 - 00:15

1. The Australians played well and reached three-hundred and something for four or five, hence the test match was drawn, and England lead the series 1-0 with two to play.

2. Ran into the long-term blokey of one of my ex-workmates today, which was a little awkward. I made polite conversation with him for a few minutes, asked how the kids and the missus were, usual stuff, but.. I used to think he was a bit of a cock, and even though he doesn't act like that now.. you can't always shift a preconception, as bad as you feel about it.

3. Back in 1990 I bought (or had bought for me - I broke my collarbone in May 1990 and also was in hospital with a groin problem, hence had magazines purchased for me to keep me amused etc.) a World Soccer magazine, which I remember being a real eye-opener w.r.t. the level of detail and stats and breadth of coverage. I partic recall the detail given about all the various European leagues, and also a story about the cheating Chilean goalie Roberto Rojas. I think before that I'd only read the more childish and tabloid footy magazines like Shoot and Match.

4. I met a strange lady, she made me nervous. Then she took me home and made me have a gazpacho enema.

5. Work was pretty nondescript today. I was a bit lazy and didn't do much, but kept things ticking over, and didn't get bored or feel I'd wasted the day.

6. Charismatic megafauna are large animal species with widespread popular appeal that environmental activists use to achieve conservation goals well beyond just those species. Prominent examples include the Asiatic Lion, the Bengal tiger, the Giant Panda, and the Blue Whale.

7. Middlesbrough have signed Leroy Lita, which - putting aside problems with his attitude that I think have been voiced - looks like a sound piece of business. Lita isn't a Premiership class striker, but he's got the potential to be a very decent little scorer in the Championship.

8. Read an article (actually a book review, I think) which made some very good points abouyt global warming being a load of shite. I might look up the source, 'cause the arguments make a lot of sense.

9. I'm going to try to eat a bit healthier, having had a bit of a 'God You Are Ugly' moments in the mirror at the weekend. Today I did not awfully but hardly well. I just like food too much.

10. LISTENING TO:- That PJ Harvey and John Parish album that I mentioned yesterday. I'm sorry to say, but it is appaulingly bad. Part of me thinks it might grow on me, but judging by the fact there are only two or three pleasant songs on it (and seven or eight appauling falsetto clangy noise-filled tracks). Not enough tunes, just self-indulgent noodling. Disappointed.
