Tea-cup in a storm.

Monday, Aug. 31, 2009 - 23:48

Whoo-har, a Hank Molly Day Bunday. As is the natural state of things (and as is the British stereotype to mention it) it was a bit grey and rainy weather-wise, but nevertheless warmish. Not Warminster, but quite warm all the same.

Overall I'm a little disappointed with the weekend - it's been enjoyable enough but I've failed to do one and a half times as much as I could have managed on a usual weekend. That said, a moutain of laundry and washing up, writing an audit, and tidying my flat to the extent that it'll only need a hoover and a dust before it's suitable to allow my sister to visit.. well it's not too useless a weekend if you think about it.

Newcastle moved top of the Championship today after a solitary goal victory versus Leicester. In yesterday's Premiership games, Villa beat Fulham, Everton beat Wigan, and Man City beat Portsmouth at Fratton Park.

Yesterday evening BBC2 had an evening of 'The Office', which was very entertaining. It reinforced a couple of opinions - firstly that the first series of 'The Office' was genius indeed (not that the rest of it was shabby, I'm not trying to imply that!), and secondly that Gervais is a bit of a prick. Good writer, decent character actor, but as a person and a 'himself' comedian.. not so much my taste.

The qualification picture for the 2010 World Cup looks like it might be a little clearer in a week's time. That said, looking at a load of the tables, on t'other hand it looks far from certain.

Plus, I have got an awkward sort of lump in my throat/oesophagus which feels like I've swallowed a whole new potato (I haven't), which probably indicates I'm coming down with a cold or something.

Watched a couple of episodes of 'The Book Group' (series 2) this evening, and very brilliant it is too. I adore Dirka, and Janice is wonderful too. Plus I see a guy every morning at the train station who looks like the bloke who plays Janice's vicar :-)

LISTENING TO:- randomly, any tune from my 'not yet played' list in iTunes which has the word (or letters) 'soul' somewhere in it's info. CP the beautiful 'A Little Soul' by Pulp, and we've just had the funk-a-delicious 'The Bottle' by Gil Scott-Heron & Brian Jackson.

Gotta go to bed. Tomorrow I've got to try and pursuade my boss to let me have Friday off.. wish me luck!
