..digital classic tier, with around..

Monday, Oct. 19, 2009 - 22:53

A bit of an odd day - I forced myself to stay up and watch American Football till half four in the morning, basically because having got this week off, I felt like I should take the opportunity to stay up doing something I've wanted to do for a number of other Sunday nights, because I could do so without cause for fear of tiredness at work.

In the end it was a bit of a crappy match - ending 21-14 to Atlanta against Chicago. After it finished (and I did keep drifting in and out of conciousness during the game, despite drinking plenty of Diet Coke) I had a quick Barclays and then went to bed just before five.

Unsurprisingly, this meant I didn't get out of bed till gone noon. This, along with the fact I appear to have picked up a cold off my father from when he visited this weekend.. it's left me feeling a little under the (cold and grey today - very wintery) weather.

I did have a useful sort of afternoon though, thank Christ :-) I piddled about online and tried to pay my credit card bill, 'cause what with the postal strike this week it might be a bit late to settle my bill via the mail. I was pleasantly surprised to find I knew my internet bonking (sic.) numbers etc. and was able to pay the hundred-odd quid I owed.

Of additionally surprsing ease was how straightforward it was to find some places of interest to perchance move to, and arrange a viewing for this week. I felt a little guilty and angry with myself in that it was a relatively simple process requiring only a small amount of effort, but I got further with househunting in a half-hour period this arvo than I have done at any time in the past eighteen months. I'm due to see a couple of places on Wednesday.

LISTENING TO:- earlier on I put on Kings of Leon 'Only By The Night', and very enjoyable it was too. I also listened to 'Auf Der Maur' (by the titular Melissa ADM), which remains a disappointment despite it being quite good to listen to. I can't put my finger on it - perhaps I'm wanting more hooks in a Hole stylee?

I'm not sure I agree with the fact that the World Cup qualification play-offs for the best second placed teams was not seeded. On one hand I can understand why FIFA have done it this way (why risk putting out teams like Portugal, France and Russia - all of whom have finished in the last four of recent major championships?), but at the same time.. is a bit harsh on the lesser teams that have done excellently to finish runner-up in the groups.

The draw has paired France with Rep. Ireland, Russia against Slovenia, Greece and Ukraine, and Portugal play Bosnia-Hercegovina. Ties take place on 14 and 18 November. Elsewhere w.r.t. kicking an inflated bladder, Fulham beat Hull 2-0.

Apologies that this is such a factual boring entry. I guess I'm just in that sort of mood - a bit tired and ill and not willing to boast about what I've been doing if I've really done nothing of interest. I lack the energy to be witty as well, and as far as writing about stuff I've been thinking about or discussing with people.. well I've hardly spoken to anyone or engaged my brain in a creative manner today, so..

If I was able to sleep with one world leader's missus, I'd (rather predictably) go for Carla Bruni-Sarkozy. That said, I do detect that Angela Merkel has got a certain appeal. Perhaps it's just that her name sounds like a pubic wig?

I am unwilling to apply to become a novice monk. On that note, I think it only reasonable that I pack several ounces of insulating material in the front of my long socks, and set about kicking my way out of this Dogforsaken paddling pool.
